Architecture Photography

Architecture Photography

Sunday 09 June
Hereford Street, Christchurch Central - 8:30am - 2 Hours
Matthew Musson
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Matthew has a friendly personality and did a good job, helping someone who does not pick up technology that quickly. Only criticism was that his last e-mail advising the date and location was wrong causing Matthew to turn up at a different place. However, a quick phone call from Matthew rectified the situation and no damage was dfone.

A great opportunity to spend time with a small group of people and a leader. Matt guided us into feeling much more confident with our cameras. A stroll around the Botanic gardens - a beautiful setting plus the increased knowledge about the Exposure Triangle/Trinity. Very helpful. Highly recommend!

    PHOTOGRAPHERS
    Matthew Musson
Originally from Derbyshire, England. I came to New Zealand when I was seven years old. In my last two years of high school, I did photography as an elective and I became passionate about it. I decided to further study in photography, and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Grad Diploma in Creative Arts at Ara. In 2019 I was fortunate to be one of one of three students to be nominated for the New Zealand Student Photographer of the year award. At this present time my business revolves around photographing events/sports but I also distribute my Wildlife/landscape and creative art photography.

I wanted to take some photos with my new wide angle 10-18mm lens, so I headed over to Governors Bay. It was a glorious Autumn day, and the tide was out in the bay making for some interesting scenery with the rocks and leaves.

While visiting Cannon Beach, Oregon for Spring Break this year, we were treated to beautiful blue skies, warm weather, stars AND airglow at night! I was absolutely giddy about seeing those stars! Now I hope you all know how extremely rare this combination is on the pacific coast in spring. It's normally overcast and raining and definitely no stars to be seen. Thank you universe for allowing your magic to flow this evening. I truly appreciate you and your powers ??

to create this I used a piece of Teal vinyl for the backdrop, I had the camera, with a 30 mm Marco lens on a tripod set to manual focus, with focus staking of 10 shots I only used 5 in the end). for lighting I had two static lights on mini stands so I could play about with their placement to get the effect I was looking for. The dandelion seed was held in place, by putting it into a piece of white tack, I then sprayed it using a little electronic face atomiser (bought from Amazon) and loa

Decided to make a composite that resembles the photo that NASA took with their millions of dolllar photo equipment. 2 months ago I photographed the full moon and placed it on top of the most recent solar eclipse photo I took. The moon normally get its light from the sun so getting the perspective with moon visibility is impossible during an eclipse unless you have nasa gear. My photo was taken with a canon R5, RF400mm F2.8 and cropped in.
