Matt was great. As a relative novice at photography, I found the workshop to be a useful first step. It was a good mix of theory and practical hands-on activity

Originally from Derbyshire, England. I came to New Zealand when I was seven years old. In my last two years of high school, I did photography as an elective and I became passionate about it. I decided to further study in photography, and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Post Grad Diploma in Creative Arts at Ara. In 2019 I was fortunate to be one of one of three students to be nominated for the New Zealand Student Photographer of the year award. At this present time my business revolves around photographing events/sports but I also distribute my Wildlife/landscape and creative art photography.

11th July 2017 - I was upstairs on the computer, and had seen flits of movement out the window to my right.... a group of Tauhou were feeding in the trees in the property next door, so I grabbed the Sony A57 and Minolta 80-200/2.8, quietly opened the window wide, and took a few photos - the birds were around 4-5m away.

This photograph was taken back in 2019 on a wee day trip out to Arthurs Pass using a canon 750d (have since upgraded!) with a 70-200mm f2.8 lens. The background in this photograph was fairly dark to begin with, but with a few tweaks in Lightroom I made the background even darker which really made the kea pop out to the eye. This Kea was having a wee rest in the shade outside of the cafe in Arthur's Pass and the sunlight was just hitting him in the right spot, very happy with how well it turned o

There are many kekeno (NZ fur seals) around Matakaea Reserve, and as my sister was visiting from Auckland we drove out to have a look. We found a spot near the jetty and enjoyed trying to spot the kekeno camouflaged amongst the rocks and seaweed. We were admiring how graceful they looked in the water when one came to shore. As it emerged from the water it gave a great shake, like a dog, and I reeled off a burst shot to try and capture the moment. The sun backlighting the kekeno helped bring out

It was a cool fall morning and a group of American Bison were standing on the hill above me. I thought it would be interesting to get their breath. With the sun high and backlit I thought a black and white would make for a interesting composition.

We have been waiting to witness Aurora Australis from whole one year and 1st June was the day when we got chance to wetness it with naked eyes and with the camera as well. It was the first time I was watching and capturing the Aurora Australis in my life. Spent around 3 hours, and it was worth it.

I had spent the better part of the day moving silently through the edges of the chase looking to photograph deer. It was one of those days that seemed perfect on paper: overcast skies that softened the light, barely a breath of wind, and a camera battery at full charge. But nature is nothing if not humbling. The deer remained ghost-like, unseen despite hours of quiet patience and soft steps.By late afternoon my hopes had dimmed so I began the slow walk back to the car. The path wound through

CPKC Rail Engine 9350 plus one heading east out of Winnipeg to deliver it's freight to Eastern Canada and possibly countries beyond on this beautiful summer day. Engine 9350 is a Diesel/Electric Locomotive which was built in February 2012 by General Electric and produces 4400HP which is capable to propel it to a top speed of 75mph. I love to photograph trains whenever I get a chance. To me they are iconic.

The photo was taken on the shore of Lake Ontario at Woodbine Beach Park. Whenever you take a photo of a sunrise or sunset, it is difficult to predict how nature will show you. Sometimes expectations are not met, but sometimes you receive a modest but magnificent gift. There was a small puddle on the shore of the lake from a recent rain and it was in it that the miracle of the sunrise appeared. Shot on a Samsung 21s mobile phone and processed in the phone in the Snapseed program.
